All arrested in MDP protest released on conditions

The released individuals are required to cooperate with the ongoing investigation and inform authorities of any changes to their addresses.

All individuals arrested during the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) protest on the night of October 3 have been released on conditions.

Of those arrested, one was initially released, while six were remanded in custody for 15 days.

Those remanded include former Kulhudhuffishi North MP Yasir Abdul Latheef, former Dhaandhoo MP Yousuf Abdulla, and Maafushi Council President Hassan Solah.

They were produced before the Criminal Court for a decision on their remand.

Police had requested an extension of 15 more days, but the court decided to release them on conditions.

MDP Legal Director Ahmed Mauroof stated that all investigation statements have been recorded and the evidence required is in police custody which means that the evidence cannot be destroyed.
