Third person missing from capsized landing craft found dead

The third person who went missing from the landing craft "Almark Fiya", which capsized on Wednesday night, has been found dead.

In a post on social media, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said the body was discovered floating between Aailaafushi and Villa Nautica early last night.

A Maldivian, an Indian, and a Sri Lankan national were reported missing following the incident.

The body of the Sri Lankan national was found last night, while the other two bodies were recovered on Thursday.

The Maldivian victim was identified as Ahmed Shifan, 38, from Sarusoon, GDh. Dhaandhoo.

Police previously stated that two of the three missing individuals had been inside an excavator when the landing craft capsized. There were seven people on board at the time of the incident.
