Second body recovered after landing craft capsizes

A second person has been found dead after a landing craft capsized while en route from Male’ to Reethi Rah Resort.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said in a post on social media, that the body was recovered from the seabed during the ongoing search operation.

Three people were reported missing after the Almark Fiya capsized; including a Maldivian, a Sri Lankan and an Indian.

The second body found is yet to be identified.

The Maldivian crew member's body was found this morning.

The deceased Maldivian has been identified as Ahmed Shifan, 38, from GDh. Dhaandhoo, Sarusoonu.

Shifan's funeral prayers is to be held after Magrib prayers today.

When the landing craft capsized, there were seven people onboard.
