President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured residents of Shaviyani atoll Lhaimagu that ongoing power outages will be permanently resolved.
During his ongoing tour of the atoll, Lhaimagu residents expressed concerns over low power loads and frequent outages, calling for a permanent solution.
In response, the President said the government would address the issue.
Fenaka Corporation Managing Director Mohamed Najah added that a 400 kW generator would soon be delivered to the island, ensuring a permanent solution to the electricity problem.
The President noted that foundation stone laying for three projects scheduled for the day were postponed due to bad weather.
Projcts planned in Lhaimagu:
- Fitness and recreation centre
- Health centre building
- Council building
- Waste management works
- School office building
- Renovation of the football field
- Construction of a swimming track
- Police station
He added that the new health centre building will expand services to 16 hours.
Residents also requested a branch of the Holy Quran Center, which the President said will be established in island areas within three years.
