Orthopedic surgeries are now being performed at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) using the latest advanced technology.
Male’ City Group of Hospitals CEO Ibrahim Haleem announced in apost on social media that the hospital has introduced an Arthroscopy Tower to expand and enhance services at the Orthopedic and Trauma Department.
He said the new system provides four times clearer visuals in 4K resolution, greatly improving precision and diagnostic capabilities.
“With this system, diseases can be more easily diagnosed and modern methods can be used to treat sports injuries,” Haleem said.
Senior Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon and Head of the Orthopedic Department, Dr. Ismail Zahir, told Mihaaru News that IGMH is now using technology on par with that found in developed countries. The upgrade, he said, will reduce operation time and complications, allowing patients to recover more quickly.
Dr. Zahir added that one key feature of the new setup is its automatic pressure control, which allows surgeons to operate more efficiently.
While knee surgeries are the most commonly performed orthopedic procedures at IGMH, Dr. Zahir noted that the new system will make shoulder and small joint surgeries easier.
