The deadline for submitting a bid is 12th November, as per the announcement.

Announcements were made to find a company to develop and operate a 200-bed resort at Nalandhoo in August 2023 and October 2023.

The bidding process was reopened for a second time as the company that applied in the first bidding process was disqualified. However, it is unclear what happened during the second bidding process.

Nalandhoo has been rented out to a private individual by the government since 1999 to conduct work on fisheries, specifically the restoration of sea cucumbers.

However, the island was taken back by the state during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration, with the decision that a resort is to be developed.
