South Feydhoo MP Ibrahim Didi submitted the bill on behalf of the government.

The bill has been put on the agenda for today's sitting, with the point of the bill being the establishment of a steady human organ transplant system.

The bill was submitted in order to establish a legal framework, along with outlining the regulations in making organ transplants an accessible, quality service which is sustainable.

The bill will only allow live-donor organ transplants. The bill will also state which organs can and cannot be used for transplants.

Organ donor conditions:

  • Organ donors must be 18 years of age.
