Six arrested over street violence

Six individuals have been arrested in Male' over two incidents of street violence. 

As per the Police website, the first incident occurred on October 4 around 8:30pm in Mahchangolhi ward in Male'. 

In this incident, a person sitting on a parked motorcycle was attacked with a dangerous weapon. Four individuals were arrested in relation to this incident. These are:

1. Thoaif Rafeeq, 26, Moara, GA. Maamendhoo

2. Amsal Abdulla, 25, Sunrise, GDh. Rathafandhoo

3. Ahmed Neezadh, 29, Rosebud, Thundi, L. Gan

4. Abdulla Israq, 19, Gulbakaage, GDh. Thinadhoo

The four were arrested last Friday night. When presented in court for their remand hearing, they have been placed in remand in custody until the end of trial. 

The second incident of violence occurred after sunset last Tuesday. Two persons on a motorcycle attacked an individual standing near the Post Office on Boduthakurufaanu Magu. Two persons were arrested in relation to this incident. These are:

1. Shamaal Hussain, 22, Musthareege, Th. Gaadhiffushi

2. Rajwan Latheef, 24, Murin'gi, L. Maamendhoo

The victims of the attacks were treated in hospital and later discharged.
