Rainy spell begins, strong winds from Tuesday

MET Office has announced today that rainy conditions are expected to persist across the country this week. 

A MET Office official told Mihaaru News that the rainy conditions are expected to last until Thursday, with strong winds and rough seas predicted across the country from Tuesday onwards. 

While rain is forecast to decrease starting Thursday, strong winds and turbulent seas are likely to continue through October 20. 

With the Southwest monsoon strengthening, Maldives has been experiencing rain showers since Friday. This morning, the MET Office issued a Yellow Alert from HA atoll to R atoll, while a White Alert was issued for other areas. 

Along with heavy rain, wind speeds are forecast at 40mph.
