Financial trust begins with accountants: Zameer

Building a resilient financial system hinges on trust, which begins with the role of accountants, Finance Minister Moosa Zameer has stated. 

Zameer made these remarks at the inauguration of the Maldives Accountants Forum 2025, organized by Institute of Chartered Accountants of Maldives (CA). 

The minister noted that while the business and financial sectors are undergoing rapid, unprecedented change, trust remains a constant and essential pillar. 

This trust, he stressed, begins with accountants. 

Zameer noted that access to reliable financial information enables banks to issue loans responsibly and with greater accountability. Investors, too, can make more informed, better decisions when such information is available, he added. 

It would also assist policy makers in developing plans with greater confidence, Zameer went on to say.

The minister emphasized that is for this reason that CA Maldives has such an important role. CA Maldives is not simply a regulator, but also serves as the guardian of integrity and trust, he said.
