After a 15 year gap without suitable camping grounds near Male' for students, the government has now designated a site for the purpose.
The new campgrounds arranged by the government is in Crossroads.

The camping site was officially inaugurated today by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
The camping grounds were set up under Crossroads' CSI initiatives. The 3 hectare area is equipped with a mosque, first aid room, rooms and administrative office.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Education Dr Ismail Shafeeu noted the lack of appropriate camping grounds for students in the Male' area over the past fifteen years. He acknowledged that uniformed bodies such as Girl Guides, Scouts and cadets are extremely important in developing students' skills.

The minister emphasized that the camping grounds inaugurated today are designed to cater to their camping needs. He added that the camping grounds are not exclusively for the use of uniformed bodies, but for use for other educational activities as well.
These other activities include field trips by fisheries science students, various environment related activities, and other events, he said.
The minister also said that on weekends, activities will be held at the grounds which can be visited by parents and students.

Prior to this, the island of Feydhoo Finolhu was used for camping trips by school students. However, about eight years ago, the island was reassigned for use as a resort.
