Former Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer stated last night on X that he has been summoned by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in regards to an ongoing investigation.

He is to arrive at the ACC on Sunday at 2:30 pm.

He defended himself on X stating that he served as the Finance Minister faithfully and honestly during MDP's administration from 2019 to 2023.

"I made use of my position in an official capacity to ensure no harm would come to the state. All my decisions as a minister were made to save the state from any losses and to ensure the state benefited. I have that assurance in my soul," said GDh. Gadhdhoo-born Ameer.

Ameer has criticized ACC President Adam Shamil and commission members for summoning him to the ACC.

As per Ameer, the ACC President and commission members are working to "unfairly frame people" in order to keep their positions.

Ameer went on to say that he "feels no fear through this fearmongering" when there is no basis as to why he is being brought to the police and the ACC.

Former MDP administration Economic Minister and MDP Chairperson Fayyaz has also been summoned to the ACC, requiring him to appear at the ACC on Monday, 9:30 am.

Fayyaz's summons read that he is being accused of abusing his position at the Dispute Resolutions Committee in 2019 by awarding inadequate compensation to Swift Engineering and giving them unlawful benefits.

ACC alleges that this action resulted in a loss of financial gain to the state.

Swift Engineering is North Thinadhoo MP PNC member Saudhulla Hilmy's company.

Saudhulla stated last night that Swift Engineering being compensated with projects equal to its value was a huge benefit to the state during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration.

Saudhulla said that six projects under Swift Engineering was stopped unlawfully during the previous administration. He also stated that he appeared before the Settlement Committee at the time to request compensation for the losses incurred by Swift Engineering not in monetary form, but in projects equivalent to the amount that was lost due to the projects being halted.

He specifically requested for five projects with a worth of four projects to be given to Swift Engineering as compensation.

"No compensation was given regarding the other two projects. The state has benefited due to this. If Swift Engineering went to court, a huge payment would have been incurred," said Saudhulla.
