Ghiyasuddin International School has introduced a work experience programme aimed at familiarizing students with the professional environment.

Principal Thoha Saleem said the initiative, which targets students in grades 8 and 9, forms part of the school’s career guidance programme.

“The aim is to give students practical experience, helping them understand the workplace and connect their learning with real-life scenarios,” he said.

The programme has been launched in partnership with 13 organizations, including both state-owned enterprises and private companies:

  • Ooredoo
  • ADK
  • Villa College
  • SHC Law & Tax
  • MTCC
  • MWSC
  • Manta Air
  • Pension Office
  • Gedor Consulting
  • Javaabu
  • Bandos Maldives
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Maldives Islamic Bank

Thoha said students are required to complete work experience at four different organizations, spending 10 hours at each, for a total of 40 hours before the end of grade 9.

Government schools previously offered work experience before grade 9. However, since it was optional for participation, the programme discontinued at some point.
