Police officer charged for not reporting accident

A police officer has been arrested and later released by the court after being accused of transporting an individual injured in the motorcycle-car collision without reporting the incident.

The individual who was arrested has been identified as Mohamed Hassan, 33, Ma. Saeedhuvaadhee. This occurred on 12th September around 1:00am.

As per Mohamed Hassan's release order, the accident took place at Fithuroanu Magu, Hulhumale' nearby WAMCO.

As per the release order, upon the accident occurring, the Police officer had transported the injured individual to the hospital in his police cruiser. However, the accident had not been reported to the authorities.

As was said by the Police Investigation Officer in court, the Police Officer was arrested due to him not reporting the accident and leaving the scene. 

However, when he had appeared at the Criminal Court yesterday in order to decide on the Police officer's remand, he was released on conditions.

The officer was released because he is an employed police officer, and authorities determined that the investigation could proceed without keeping him in custody for an extended period.
