From the 4,000 applicants for the Gedhoruveriya Scheme, a portion of the people who received their keys to their flats have moved in.
Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) began handing over the keys to flat recipients on 28th September. Of the flats built in Hulhumale' Phase 2, flat recipients in Amaan Udhares Tower 14 were the first to receive their keys.
An FDC official told Mihaaru News today that 78 recipients have been handed their keys. The official said that electricity and water have been connected to the tower, allowing recipients to move into their flats.
The official stated that recipients would not have to pay rent for three months from the day they move in but are still required to pay the maintenance fee.
Sources state that around six families have begun living in the tower.
Security deposit payments for the 4,000 flats began on 7th September. As of now, more than 1,200 individuals have paid the security deposit.
Those who have paid the security deposit will be notified when to retrieve the key to the flat via the designated portal.
Rent and deposit amounts for the flats:
- Two-bedroom apartments: MVR 7,000/month. Maintenance fee: MVR 1,000/month. Security deposit: MVR 15,000
- Three-bedroom apartments: MVR 9,500/month. Maintenance fee: MVR 1,500/month. Security deposit: MVR 25,000
As part of the project, FDC is constructing 4,000 apartments across 32 towers, each ranging from 17 to 18 storeys, in Hulhumalé.
A second draw was held yesterday for applicants who missed the first round of the 4,000 flats under the Gedhoruveriya Scheme.
Yesterday, a draw was held for applicants who were initially eligible for two-room flats with scores above 73 points and three-room flats with scores above 76 points. These applicants had not been included in the original draw conducted on 16 November 2023.
As FDC Managing Director Hamdhan Shakeel has stated in the past, they are working to hand over all flats by the end of December.
