AG Office Senior State Counsel Faena, spouse arrested with drugs

Senior State Counsel at Attorney General's Office Faena Fayyaz and her husband have been arrested with drugs last night. 

The two were arrested in an operation conducted by Police's Drug Enforcement Department last night, from their residence, Mihaaru News reports. 

They were seen being taken away under arrest from the Raincrest apartments in Hulhumale' Phase 1. 

It has also been reported that a large quantity of drugs were found in the apartment from Raincrest that was searched in last night's operation, although the exact amount is so far unclear. 

Police are yet to comment on the case. 

Faena, 33, is the head of the Human Rights and International Affairs Division of the AG Office. She also temporarily led the Civil Rights Office at the AG Office in 2023, after it was newly established by this administration. 

Faena joined the AG Office on September 12, 2013 as a Deputy State Attorney. A year after this, she was promoted to a State Attorney in 2014, and to Senior State Counsel in 2019.
