President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has fulfilled his promise of making ID card and passport services available in every atoll of the Maldives.

The initiative to issue passports and ID cards from every atoll was a key presidential pledge. To streamline passport applications, the government began rolling out passport services across all atolls in November last year.

When the work commenced, passport services were initially made available in Hulhumalé Phase One and Phase Two, Villingili, Lh. Fonadhoo, and Dh. Kudahuvadhoo. The ID card service was launched in Hulhumalé Phase One and Phase Two, Villingili, and Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi.

The President is currently on a visit to Adh. Mahibadhoo, which was his last stop today. The passport service was launched on this island, officially completing the availability of passport services in every atoll nationwide.

To mark the introduction of both passport and ID card services across all the country's atolls, Home Minister Ali Ihusan presented a commemorative plaque to the President.

Previously, citizens incurred significant expenses traveling to Malé City to access these essential services, especially for passports. Now, with the President's decision, both ID cards and passports can be obtained from any atoll in the country.
