Development of Maafarufalhu as an Urban Center begins

The practical work to develop the Maafarufalhu, which is under the jurisdiction of A.Dh. Mahibadhoo, as an urban center officially began today.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu visited the Maafarufalhu during his tour of A.Dh. Atoll today. The President toured the lagoon, inspected the site, signed the agreement, and formally launched the project's practical work.

The development contract was awarded to the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). MACL Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef signed the agreement on the company's behalf, while Minister Moosa Zameer signed for the Ministry of Finance.

The government is moving forward with its decision to establish urban centers in seven regions across the country, and Mahibadhoo is one of the designated islands.

The President emphasized that these urban centers will be safe places for people and will create numerous opportunities for higher education, health, and business.
