A draw for 4,000 flats under Gedhoruveriya Scheme is scheduled for tomorrow for applicants who did not participate in the first round.

Housing Ministry announced today that the draw will determine the recipients of three-bedroom flats. The initial draw on November 16, 2023, was for two-room flats, which were awarded to beneficiaries who scored more than 73 points. Tomorrow's draw is for those who scored less than 76 points and were not part of the previous allocation.

The Ministry noted that this round will also include applicants who are receiving a flat after a spouse forfeited their unit, and other eligible applicants who have yet to be included in a draw.

The draw will be held at the Ministry office at 3:00 PM tomorrow. It will be conducted by designated staff, with updates posted on the portal and broadcast live on state media (PSM) and the Ministry’s social media platforms.

Some applicants missed the initial draw because the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) ordered the allocation to be suspended due to fraud complaints toward the end of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's government. No draws have taken place since then.

Currently, Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has signed agreements and begun the key handover process for the 4,000 flats, but HDC has not yet permitted residency.

The agreement signing and security deposit payment process is ongoing, prioritized by the order of flat completion. FDC stated on Tuesday that 3,140 people have signed the agreement so far.

The two projects, awarded to two separate Indian companies, offer two-bedroom and three-bedroom flats with the following costs:

  • Two-bedroom flats: MVR 7,000/month rent, MVR 1,000/month maintenance fee, and a MVR 15,000 security deposit.
  • Three-bedroom flats: MVR 9,500/month rent, MVR 1,500/month maintenance fee, and a MVR 25,000 security deposit.

Key distribution, managed via the FDC portal, has begun with the first flats being handed over to recipients in the 14th tower of Amaan Udhares. FDC had previously aimed to hand over the flats by November.
