Presenter Nafiu Rasheed among four arrested for intoxication in presence of minors

Police have arrested four individuals, including presenter Nafiu Rasheed, for being intoxicated in the presence of children in Male'.

The arrests took place yesterday morning following an investigation into the alleged exploitation of minors. Nafiu, 39, from Vaavu Rakeedhoo, is a former presenter of state media PSM and VTV and has hosted sporting and other events.

The other suspects are Ali Ashraf, 35, from M. Ethumaa; Luhan Saeed, 41, from Gaafu Dhaalu Vaadhoo; and Ibrahim Shinan Ahmed, 33, from Male' Finikuri.

Police recovered a packet of suspected drugs during a search of an apartment in Henveiru. Preliminary urine tests indicated that all four tested positive for drug.

The case involves injured minors, including two 17 year old girls, a 16 year old boy, and a 17 year old boy.

All four suspects were presented in court and remanded in custody for three days.
