President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced today that next year's state budget will include funding for accommodation blocks to house employees from foreign countries or other local islands who will be working in islands.
President Muizzu began his visit to Alif Dhaalu Atoll today. During his speech upon his arrival to Dhigurah, he spoke to Dhigurah residents stating his visits are to fulfill the pledges he had made prior.
While noting that projects are started and ceremoniously completed during his visits, President Muizzu stated that it has been decided that the wants of civilians will be included in next year's budget.
The President went on to highlight the issue of a lack of accommodation for migrant teachers and health industry workers at some islands. President Muizzu said that the administration has decided to include funding for accommodation blocks in next year's budget.
"The state budget will include accommodation for non-resident workers in the fields of health, education and more. This is needed for schools and various other institutions," said President Muizzu.
"The project will be included under the New Policy Initiative when next year's budget is made."
Even though a teacher, nurse or doctor is brought in from another country or other Maldivian island, they are made to stay in public houses for rent with a certain amount being expended from the relevant ministry's budget.
