The Police have stated that three of their officers suffered injuries during their attempts to disperse last night's MDP rally in Male'.

As per the Police Media Official, one female officer and two male officers were injured. Two of them were treated at Senahiya Hospital, while the third officer was treated at ADK Hospital.

Police said that the female officer sustained injuries due to protesters walking over her while she had fallen under a shield.

Of the other two officers, one of them was injured due to colliding against the barrier, while the other was injured by protesters while he was standing by the shield line, as per the Police.

While it has been said that Police officers were injured in the protest, Police have been accused of using excessive force in their attempts to disperse protesters. Most of the criticism was aimed at the use of Long Range Acoustic Devices (LRAD).

Some people have been complaining about health issues due to the use of the LRAD sonic weapon. MDP's legal team has stated there's no procedure regarding the use of LRAD's and that Police didn't have permission to use it.

In a statement released by the Police, it says that the Police operated within the confines of the Police Service Act and with the powers they are granted therein.

The Police have also stated that 15 individuals were arrested as they had attempted to walk through Majeedhee Magu and that this was due to the violation of the agreement that was discussed. The statement read that the Police had urged and advised protesters that they weren't allowed to walk through Majeedhee Magu but they had refused to listen and clashed with Police.
