Ishaq Ahmed appointed as Chief Administrator of ERA

Ishaq Ahmed has been appointed as the Chief Administrator of the Environmental Regulatory Authority (ERA).

The Environment Ministry announced in August that it would appoint a person to lead the newly created agency responsible for protecting the environment.

An official from the Ministry of Tourism and Environment confirmed to Mihaaru News that he has been appointed to the post.

Before his appointment, Ishaq served as the Director General of the Environment Ministry. He has also previously served as the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications.

The basic salary for the position is MVR 20,500 per month, along with a living allowance of MVR 15,000. This brings the total take-home salary to MVR 35,500.

Previously, the highest-ranking position in the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was Director General. Ibrahim Naeem, who held the post for 14 years, resigned yesterday.
