MVR 75,000 for first prize of National Quran Competition

This year’s competition, held from September 18th to 26th, saw 1,037 participants from 119 locations across the Maldives. The results announcement ceremony will take place on October 12th.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that winners of the National Quran Recitation Competition will receive a cash prize of MVR 75,000 in addition to the Presidential Cash Prize.

Islamic Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said in a social media post today that the first place winners in the Hafiz, memorized recitation, and recitation from text categories will each be awarded MVR 75,000. The second-place winners will receive MVR 50,000, while third-place winners will receive MVR 35,000.

In addition to the Ministry’s prizes, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has decided to award a Presidential Scholarship and a cash prize of MVR 100,000 to the winners. This brings the total cash prize for first place in each category to MVR 175,000, along with the opportunity to perform Umrah.
