Waheed appointed State Minister of Transport

Mohamed Ahmed Waheed (Waddey), formerly aligned with President Abdulla Yameen’s People’s National Front (PNF) before switching to the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC), has been appointed State Minister of Transport.

Waheed’s appointment comes despite his history of publicly criticizing President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed during PNF rallies.

However, last month Waheed apologized to the President and First Lady and formally joined PNC. 

At the time, he acknowledged that his remarks were made in “political drive” and based on misinformation.

He said he had since realized that the information he relied upon was false and retracted his statements.
