Criminal Court clears Sun Investments and Sun Construction in Raa Fuggiri case

Criminal Court has ruled that Sun Investments Pvt Ltd and Sun Construction and Engineering Pvt Ltd are not guilty in connection with the Raa Fuggiri case.

Both companies were accused of money laundering regarding the lease transactions of Fuggiri. Former President Abdulla Yameen was accused of bribery in connection to the case.

Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed is a stakeholder in both companies. The Prosecutor General's (PG) Office stated that the Criminal Court had come to the aforementioned ruling on 17th September.

The case wasn't included during the trial where the court had reached a verdict. The sentence has not been published since. However, publishing a court sentence is mandatory by law.

When questioned, the Criminal Court media official stated that the trial had not been conducted in secret. The official also stated that the verdict was not made public as they hadn't received it due to an administrative error.

Former President Yameen's trial is being heard separately. The trial is currently nearing its end.
