IGMH has successfully completed the first endoscopic spinal fusion surgery performed in the Maldives, where surgeons inserted an endoscope into a patient and operated on the spinal column.
While they didn't go into detail, IGMH posted on social media, stating the operation where they used an endoscope to get a visual in between the vertebrae and its nerve endings was a great development in Maldivian neurosurgery.
The surgical leader of the operation was Maldives' first neurosurgeon Dr. Ali Niyaf.
Major operations have begun taking place at the hybrid theater established in Dharumavantha Hospital.
They have also recently conducted an occipitocervical fusion surgery.
IGMH CEO Ibrahim Haleem has said that they are working towards starting endovascular neurosurgery and cardiothoracic surgery.
