President's Scholarship for national Quran competition winners

It has been decided that a President's Scholarship will be awarded to students who place first in the National Quran Competition from this year onwards. Students will get to choose which country they want to study at up to a PhD.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu posted on social media today, stating it had been announced last year that the National Quran Competition will be the most prestigious and highly awarded competition in the future.

President Muizzu stated that first place winners of the recitation, recitation by heart, and the hafiz category will get to pick their field of study along with their preferred nation to study at up to a PhD level with a special scholarship.

The President went on to say that a cash prize of MVR 100,000 and honorary plaque will be awarded to students who place first in the aforementioned three categories. This also applies to first place winners of the institutions category.

"The prizes that will be given by the ministry for first place winners of the competition will increase in both value and quantity. This will also facilitate awards being given by private parties," said the President.

President Muizzu said that the most effort and best prizes should be given to those who recite the Quran in a beautiful manner.

This year's National Quran Competition that ran from 18th September to 26th September saw 137 participants from 119 places. However, the date for the announcement of winners still hasn't been finalized.
