Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has said it expects to hand over 4,000 flats from the Hulhumale' housing project before the end of November.

At a ceremony on Sunday, FDC’s Managing Director, Hamdhan Shakeel, presented the first set of keys to a recipient of an apartment in Tower 14 of Amaan Udhares.

Hamdhan told Mihaaru News the corporation aims to enable all recipients to move in by November.

So far, 14 tenants who paid security deposits have received their keys. Handover dates for other towers will be announced through the FDC portal, he added.

The security deposit scheme opened on 7 September, and in the first week alone 588 people made payments.

The project, contracted to two Indian companies, includes two- and three-bedroom units. Rents are set at MVR 7,000 a month for two-bedroom flats, with an additional MVR 1,000 maintenance fee and MVR 15,000 security deposit.

Three bedroom flats will rent for MVR 9,500, with a MVR 1,500 maintenance fee and MVR 25,000 deposit.

The government is signing tenancy agreements as flats are completed. According to the latest FDC figures, agreements have been signed with about 3,000 recipients.

The development comprises 32 towers of 17 to 18 floors, some of which are already complete while other towers are undergoing finishing work.
