Hamid, who retired from Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) in December 2023 after more than 33 years of service, studied at NDU from 2017 to 2018, completing his Master’s degree.

Retired Major General Hamid Shafeeq, Deputy National Security Advisor at the President’s Office, has been inducted into the International Fellows Hall of Fame of the US National Defense University (NDU).

The Hall of Fame recognizes NDU alumni who have gone on to hold the highest positions in their nation’s military or government. It was first established in 1999.

Hamid received his induction certificate and a commemorative plaque from NDU President Admiral Peter A. Garvin at a ceremony held on September 9 at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

Members are also honored in a formal event at NDU’s Marshall Hall, where their portraits are displayed in the Hall of Fame gallery.
