Man arrested over stabbing in Addu

A person has been taken into custody following a knife attack in Addu on September 23, which left one man injured. 

Police identified the suspect as Ali As'ar, 30, Sunreef, S. Hithadhoo.

Presented in court for his remand hearing, As'ar has been placed in custody for 30 days.

The victim of the attack is a 34 year old Maldivian man. He was first treated in the Intensive Care Unit at the Addu Equatorial Hospital for two severe stab wounds. Police quoted the hospital as saying his condition is gradually improving. 

Police are investigating this case under the Prevention of Gang and Other Serious Offences Act.
