Jazeel, who attacked Mandhy, jailed for three years on other charges

Criminal Court has sentenced Mohamed Jazeel, who previously assaulted Maryam Zubair (Mandhy), the mother of Galolhu South MP Meekail Ahmed Naseem to three years and one month in prison on separate charges.

Jazeel was convicted of one count of threatening to cause harm to the life or body of a family member, one count of threatening to cause injury, and three counts of causing injury.

The court ordered separate sentences under a plea agreement with the state.

In 2021, Jazeel was sentenced to one year and three months in prison for attacking Mandhy and two other staff members at an MDP office, striking them with a chain and causing head injuries to Mandhy.

Details of the latest verdicts have not been made public, and it remains unclear which incidents led to his sentence.
