Bangladeshi arrested for stabbing remanded until end of trial

Bangladeshi national Jahangir Mia, 25, who was arrested on suspicion of having stabbed a 21 year old Nepalese woman working in a shop in Hulhumale' has been placed in remand in custody until the end of trial.

Bangladeshi national Jahangir Mia, 25, who was arrested on suspicion of having stabbed a 21 year old Nepalese woman working in a shop in Hulhumale' has been placed in remand in custody until the end of trial. 

The Nepalese woman was attacked with a sharp object inside her place of work yesterday afternoon. 

Police subsequently arrested Jahangir Mia last night, after identifying and locating him with the aid of CCTV footage and other investigative methods. 

When presented to court for his remand hearing, Mia was placed in remand in custody until the end of trial, Police said. 

The victim was treated at the Hulhumale' Hospital and later discharged, according to Police. 

Police continue to investigate the incident.
