Yesterday, Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel called to end the power to veto and that it is time to completely rework the United Nations Security Council's framework.

During the UN General Assembly at New York, Maldivian Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel warned yesterday that due to international law not being enforced on powerful countries, trust and confidence in international law is fading.

With the world unable to stop Israel committing genocide against Palestine, Minister Khaleel said that there is no other choice but to amend the UN's framework.

The Minister went on to say that the currently "paralyzed" Security Council should be the one to begin the sincere reformation of the framework.

Minister Khaleel also stated that seats should be created even for developing island nations so that even more nations can be represented.

"The most important thing is to form a Security Council where they are not afraid of vetoing powers," said Minister Khaleel.

The Minister said that the main aim of reforming the UN's framework in such a way is to restore trust in international law along with trust in the UN.
