Police have said that the Court has decided to release TikTok personality Aminath Feyzleen on bail.
Feyzleen, 49, was arrested for unauthorized entry into a residence in GDh. Thinadhoo, where she allegedly committed assault and issued threats.
When she was presented at the Thinadhoo Magistrate Court for her remand hearing following yesterday's arrest, the court ruled that she would be released if she posted bail of MVR 10,000 within ten hours.
If the amount is not paid within the allocated ten hours, she would be placed in remand in custody for fifteen days, Police said.
Police have earlier said that Feyzleen was arrested for unauthorized entry into a Thinadhoo residence at 11:38pm last Wednesday, where she used profanity in the presence of children, committed assault and issued threats.
The Criminal Procedures Act previously allowed release on bail only for those arrested on suspicion of a crime. Last year, this was amended to allow those convicted to be released on bail during the appeal process.
Persons found guilty of a crime can also be released on bail until sentencing as per the amendment.
Even when bail is granted, courts retain the authority to impose conditions such as travel bans, or mandate attendance at hearings, and restrict communication with individuals connected to the case.
