In solidarity with Palestine, Maldives, along with numerous other countries, staged a walk out when Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began his address at the United Nations General Assembly yesterday.
Many delegations stood up and began to walk out of the hall as Netanyahu approached the podium to deliver his address at the UN General Assembly held in New York.
This included Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel, who led the Maldives delegation.
Many seats in the meeting hall were vacant as Netanyahu addressed the meeting.
Israel ally United States of America had this year refused to issue a visa to Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas to attend the General Assembly. Abbas delivered his address via video link.
