The construction of a new five-storey hospital building for Haa Alif Atoll Hospital has been awarded to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
The agreement was signed on behalf of the government by State Minister at the Ministry of Health, Ahmed Gasim, while Deputy Managing Director Ahmed Shareef Abdul Rahman signed on behalf of MTCC.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new hospital will be a 50-bed facility and will also include a separate service building.
The project was awarded at a total cost of MVR 185.6 million, with a completion timeline of 780 days.

Once completed, the modern five-storey hospital will include an isolation facility and a fully equipped radiology department. It will offer essential diagnostic services such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, mammography, and ultrasound scans.

The project also features the development of supporting infrastructure including a waste management centre, industrial laundry, and an oxygen plant.
The Ministry stated that the new hospital will be a state-of-the-art, spacious facility designed to significantly improve healthcare services in the region.
