The investigation into the murder of Moosa Ibrahim from Laamu Atoll Maavah has been completed and the case has been forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office for prosecution.
Charges have been filed against Mohamed Ibrahim, 29, of Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaranfaru. He was arrested on 28 July and remanded in custody pending trial.
Police said that Mohamed has a prior record related to drugs.
According to police, Maavah Health Centre confirmed Moosa’s death upon arrival after he was stabbed in the neck during a clash with Mohamed.
Police also recovered a knife believed to have been used in the attack.
Sources from the island told Mihaaru News that the confrontation followed a dispute over unpaid drugs purchased from Moosa.
Residents said Moosa was stabbed while attempting to flee the attack.
The case is now under review by the PG’s Office, which has accepted the investigation report.
