President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to establish branches of the Quran Center in every inhabited island of Maldives within the remaining years of his administration.

The President said facilities would be developed according to each island’s population size, available land, and existing infrastructure.

“There are also very sparsely populated islands and those with space constraints. So I have spoken about this with those realities in mind,” he said.

Highlighting that Islamic University campuses have already been set up across the country, President Muizzu stressed the government’s commitment to advancing Islamic education.

“We want to increase Islamic learning and teach Islam strongly in connection with modern times. We don’t need to look elsewhere for this, Islam is the solution. That is why this government prioritizes teaching Islam as it is,” he said.

The President also revealed that land has been allocated to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs for the construction of a dedicated Waqf building for Quran. The facility, to be developed with government support, will provide a range of religious services.
