President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said last night that national progress would be meaningless if the country failed to safeguard its children from the challenges and dangers posed by the modern world.

President Muizzu is currently visiting Thaa Atoll. He gave a speech at Veymandhoo asking to support religion and that we must be determined to pass it on to future generations.

He went on to say that Maldivians have been living in unity and friendship all this time due to Islam. He also said that if society can't move forward while upholding religion and its rules, then there is no point in national urban development.

"We want to increase Islamic education and teach the religion that fits modern times. We don't want to take any other path. Islam is the solution. And so, the administration will prioritize the teaching of Islam the way it is," said the President.

The President stated that he will prioritize the promotion of Islamic teachings and expressions and provide this to the new generations in a safe manner.

The President stated that supplication (zikr) boards are being put up at the roads of all islands by the Islamic Ministry.

Under the supplication board policy, roads and gathering points of inhabited islands will have Islamic expressions, President Muizzu said.

President Muizzu announced last night that mosque/waqf buildings are to be built along with the establishment of Quran center branches all over Maldives.
