Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) has announced new traffic arrangements at Velana International Airport (VIA), to take effect from midnight.
According to a traffic chart published today, the main change will see all inbound vehicles required to use the airport’s Vehicle Access Road.
Previously, the same road was used for both entry and exit. Under the new system, vehicles entering the airport must use the outermost road near the beach, while the existing road will remain in use for drop offs.
MACL said outbound traffic, including vehicles leaving parking areas, public exits and main traffic, must use the road in front of Terminal 1 New Road. Inbound vehicles exiting near the western parking area will continue to use the existing road.
The company had earlier said that with the use of the new airport terminal, changes will be brought to the airports traffic flow.
