Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has scheduled to decide and appoint a judge for the empty position in High Court bench tomorrow.
17 individuals applied for the empty positions the last time it was announced, with one judge being appointed last month. The individual in question is former Civil Court Judge Abdulla Jameel Moosa.
With Mohamed Shaheed to be appointed but retracting his name shortly after, the search for another judge was announced.
Shaheed retracted his name due to his involvement in PPM and PNC activities, his recent position as a Deputy Minister, and his name being in the PNC member registry. The criticism he received from his appointment to the position was also a reason for the retraction.
14 individuals applied for the position after last month's announcement to appoint a judge. Chief Judge of the Family Court Ibrahim Mahir and former High Court Judge Shujau Usman are among the 14 individuals who applied.
JSC has said that a commission meeting will be held tomorrow to make the decision. The appointed judge will be sworn in tomorrow night.
