Man arrested for smuggling drugs into Maldives

A 35 year old man has been arrested on charges of smuggling drugs into the Maldives by concealing them in his mouth.

The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Didi of Miskiy Magu, Fuvahmulah, was arrested on charges of drug smuggling and trafficking.

He has been remanded in custody for five days.

According to the remand order, Ibrahim Didi requested state assistance to appoint a lawyer.

The order stated that drugs were discovered from his mouth but did not specify the type or quantity.
