Man arrested for hit and run at zebra crossing

Police have arrested a man in connection with a hit and run incident in Hulhumale' Phase 2 that left a pedestrian injured.

The accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday near the MACL Tower on Hithigas Magu, when a car struck a 63 year old man who was crossing the road at a zebra crossing.

The victim suffered a broken leg and is currently receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), police said.

The driver fled the scene without assisting the injured man.

Police later arrested Khalid Abdulla Ali, 57, a businessman from Dhandimagu, Fuvahmulah City, under a court order in connection with the case.
