Aasandha has clarified that Thyranom 25 microgram, a drug commonly prescribed for children with Down syndrome, autism and hypothyroidism, is covered under the national health insurance scheme.
The company has urged the public to lodge complaints through the Shikaavathi portal if pharmacies fail to provide it under the Aasandha scheme.
The statement followed concerns raised by Dr. Abdul Azeez Hameed on social media, after medication prescribed to a six-year-old child was reportedly unavailable at STO’s Henveiru pharmacy.
He noted that while one pharmacy quoted MVR 90 for the drug without Aasandha coverage, others charged between MVR 195 and MVR 240 for a 120-pill bottle.
In response, Aasandha said the drug continues to be available under the scheme and has been issued by several pharmacies. It advised patients to report any pharmacies refusing to dispense such medicines under Aasandha.
