Vaadhoo Magistrate Court has sentenced an idividual from GDh. Vaadhoo to jail after they entered a house to rob them of their rihaakuru tub two nights in a row.
The charge states that the individual had broken into a Naifaru home on 21st April and 22nd April and stole their rihaakuru tub.
And so due to them having broken in to rob the house on two occasions, prosecution had charged the individual on two counts of robbery, along with two charges for breaking and entering as well.
When the victims of the crime gave their statement to the Police, they had said that the tub that had been stolen would amount to about MVR 4,500.
The individual ended up confessing for his crimes. The thief is currently living in Vaadhoo as was issued to the court. The case was brought to the Vaadhoo Magistrate Court by the state for it to move forward.
The individual was sentenced to multiple jail terms for robbery and breaking and entering. They received 11 months and 19 days for one count of robbery, and an additional three months for a second count. For breaking and entering, they were handed separate sentences of 22 days and one month and 15 days.
The sentence also stated that the individual had been proven guilty to a similar crime in 2023 as well.
