M. Maduvvari, an island reliant on fishing, had requested every administration find a solution to the difficulties they've been experiencing due to the harbor. However, a solution hasn't been found to this day.
Due to the state of the harbor, residents have to live in fear when waves slam into the island during the northeast monsoon and the southeast monsoon as was stated by the island council.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is currently visiting Meemu Atoll. Upon the President's arrival to M. Maduvvari, the island council requested that a solution be found to their long overdue concerns.
President Muizzu gave his assurance that they will solve this issue while speaking to the island residents. He stated that work to repair the harbor will begin early next year, with them allocating the budget for the project.

As per Island Council President Ismail Nafiu, the residents of the island live in great difficulty due to the harbor. He also stated that due to the island's breakwater having been destroyed, the residents have to deal with the difficulties that come with that as well.
"We have repeatedly requested each previous administration and President for a new harbor. We have been living in such a state for all these years. We didn't request anything else," said Nafiu.
"We have trouble getting a good night's sleep. The first thing we want is for us to be able to sleep in peace. Then we can make other requests. The residents of this island were unable to sleep last Ramadan as well on two occasions."
The previous administration started a project to fix Maduvvari's harbor. Fishing vessels are docked at their small harbor. The project had grinded to a halt without it ever finishing.

Nafiu said that the residents found relief when President Muizzu announced that work on the harbor would begin next year. He also stated that the council will support the administration in this project any way they can.
Nafiu also requested for a solution to the breakwater issue. The council also requested a solution to the housing issue faced by the 10 hectare island.
As per Nafiu, when the harbor is completed, the suffering that has been shouldered by the island's residents and fishermen would come to a permanent end. He also said that the damages being caused to the vessels that are docked would be brought to a halt.
