44 accidents on bridge and highway last week

Police statistics show the highest number of crashes involved motorcycle-to-motorcycle collisions, with 15 reported over the week. A further 13 involved cars and motorcycles.

There were 44 accidents on the bridge and highway between September 14 and 20, police said.

This is an average of more than six accidents a day.

Police statistics show the highest number of crashes involved motorcycle-to-motorcycle collisions, with 15 reported over the week. A further 13 involved cars and motorcycles.

Accidents were recorded on every day except September 19, with the peak on September 16, when nine incidents occurred.

Most of the crashes happened during daylight hours, with 36 recorded in the day and eight at night.

Three people were seriously injured, one of them being in serious condition. Forty three others sustained various injuries.

Police said 35 vehicles were damaged.

Four hit-and-run cases were also reported during the week.
