President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu gave his assurance that the projects that are needed by Meemu Atoll, a developed fishing atoll, will continue unhindered.

During his visit to Meemu Atoll, President Muizzu has pledged to the citizens of Mulah that he will do more for its residents, along with handing over various projects as well.

While he was addressing the residents, President Muizzu said that the work being done by the administration is all in order to fulfill the promises that have been made.

He acknowledged that Mulah is a vital fishing island and stated that the signing of the 30 tonne ice plant highlights the importance the government holds towards fishing.

The President also went on to say that the work being done with foreign aid needs to be done in a certain order and that the work is being done as such. The funding for the cold storage facility has also been secured, said the President.

"The government is monitoring it very carefully. It will be finished with no funding issues cropping up. The aim of the government is to start the projects as soon as possible. Due to these two projects, this island and the atoll as a whole will see big changes," said the President.

President Muizzu recalled the pledge that he made to sell fuel at STO rate in one island per atoll. He said that the building of a "fuel skid" in Mulah has been finalized, with the practical work set to begin in January 2026.

The President also highlighted the fact that the government prioritizes the fishing industry alongside the tourism industry.

"When the current administration was elected, there was MVR 250 million that had not been given to fishermen in unpaid dues. When looking at the Maldivian economy, we have been giving fishermen their pay without interruption, within just 48 hours from the start of December. We are working very closely with fishermen in order to put the industry back onto its feet," said the President.

President Muizzu stated the administration highly prioritizes doing whatever the fishermen need. He has given his assurance that all the pledges he has made to Mulah will come to fruition.

The President highlighted pledges such as harbor expansion, finding a solution to erosion and road development. He also assured that as the asphalt laying of the roads is complete, it will take four months from the time of starting (21st September 2025) to finish road development.
