Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) and Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) have been awarded contracts worth MVR 88 million to construct new health centres and hospital buildings in five islands.
At a ceremony held at the Ministry of Health, WAMCO was awarded three projects: upgrading Thaa atoll Guraidhoo Health Centre to a hospital, constructing an additional building for Thaa atoll Madifushi Health Centre, and upgrading Thaa atoll Gaadhiffushi Health Centre to a hospital.
The agreements were signed by State Minister for Health Ismail Abdullah and WAMCO’s Business Development and Marketing General Manager Ismail Ubaid.
WAMCO was given 325 days to complete the projects. The Guraidhoo hospital building is valued at MVR 32.8 million, while the Madifushi and Gaadhiffushi projects are together valued at MVR 12.8 million.
MTCC was contracted to construct new buildings for Alifu Dhaalu atoll Kumburudhoo Health Centre and Faafu atoll Feeali Health Centre. State Minister Ahmed Gasim signed on behalf of the Health Ministry, while MTCC Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Jamsheed signed on behalf of the company.
Kumburudhoo project, worth MVR 8.2 million, is expected to be completed within 300 days. The Feeali project, valued at MVR 21.6 million, is scheduled to be completed within 360 days.
